Karen Waggoner and the Ladies Auxiliary of Superstition Mountain VFW Post 9399 have supported Girl Power 2 Cure for three years. Each month, their thoughtful donations provide for birthday packages delivered to all of our girls and boys affected with Rett Syndrome! Karen’s beautiful 10-year-old granddaughter, Charlee, has Rett Syndrome and is her inspiration for supporting Girl Power 2 Cure. Whether providing Saturday lunches at the VFW, or sewing beautiful quilts for raffles, we are forever grateful to these amazing ladies, their community of friends, and their dedication to our cause (and to our kids)! Our sincerest thanks from all of us at Girl Power 2 Cure!
These women raise donations with the help of many volunteers. The Ladies Auxiliary prepares lunches for sale at the VFW on Saturdays. Also, the White Sands Estates and Palms Sewing Club crafted and donated a beautiful quilt for a Valentine’s Day raffle. They bring in many other donations and are often surprised by anonymous donors who hear of their work!
It is through their generosity, and many others, that we continue to execute our multi-channel mission which includes:
- Providing resources and support to families struggling to care for a child with Rett Syndrome
- Funding the increasingly successful research which seeks new treatments and potential cures for Rett Syndrome
- Growing our curriculum and awareness outreach to education professionals, therapists, and school/community groups across the country
Their continued support – and yours – brings hope to Rett Syndrome families by helping them live productive lives today, while looking forward to a world free from Rett Syndrome tomorrow. Our sincerest thanks from all of us at Girl Power 2 Cure!
