Girl Power 2 Cure
#RIseAboveRett in 2020!
Happy August!
As our respective states and local governments continue to wrestle with the impacts of COVID-19, we hope that your situations are starting to return to normal. School has started in many regions of the country, and under various circumstances including continued social distancing and remote learning formats. We continue to remind parents that we are here to assist with conversations with your district and teachers regarding our students with educational special needs. Please contact kourtney@gp2c.org if we can help!
Girl Power 2 Cure is fighting every day to:
- Support and encourage Rett Syndrome families
- Educate, raise awareness, and promote literacy for individuals with Rett Syndrome and other complex-needs conditions
- Raise research dollars to support cure-focused and symptom-relieving treatments for our loved ones
There are many ways you can help… sponsor an event, (maybe a “virtual” run!), host a giveback with a local business, promote a Facebook fundraiser, or simply commit to recurring donations. We have tons of ideas and can help start to finish! Contact Amei (amei@gp2c.org) and let’s get to work conquering Rett Syndrome!

Rett University
Empowering parents, educators, and therapists with the knowledge and strategies to help students with complex needs reach their highest potential.

As school starts, in whatever form it is taking for your family this year, we know there are questions and concerns. We are prepared to support our community whether at home or in school. We have availability to work with schools via remote sessions if your school is looking for assistance. In-home remotes are available with either Susan or Kourtney to enhance or supplement your current educational format.
We are here to support your loved one and their team, including your family, on their communication journey. If you would like to set up a remote session with either Kourtney or Susan, please email kourtney@gp2c.org. Technology set-up, team training, IEP goals, and lesson plan development are just a few of the areas where we can assist, so call or email kourtney@gp2c.org and let’s get started!
As always, if you have questions, comments, or would like to see a certain topic covered in our videos, please let us know.

Getting Lost in Reading
“When I was in 2nd grade, my family was going through an extremely rough time, and I was feeling very lost. My teacher saw that I was struggling and worked to help me feel not so lost. Her idea was to have me get lost in books, so she would send me to the library each week, and whatever book I picked was one of the class book choices. What I loved (and still love now) is being able to escape into a book and see myself in another place…” (Follow the link to read more!)
