TRACK 6 - "Popstar" by Scotty and Lulu
Ooooh la la la! This song is so much
fun! And a great way to learn counting
from 1 to 10.
Speech/communication:
There are several repetitive phrases
that can be recorded into an voice
output device.
You can also come up with additional
dance commands to have your child
prompt with a device. Young siblings
will have fun making up their own
actions to follow the counting phrases.
example: 1,2,3 squat, 4,5,6 kneel, 7, 8
fall down, 9, 10 up again!
Occupational therapy:
Time to make a POPSTAR doll!
Gather pictures from magazines. Cut
out different shirts, pants, skirts, hair,
etc and build a "doll" from your child's
different choices.
You can back the paper with
cardboard and put a magnet on the
back. Have your child help you "build"
the doll on a cookie sheet or on the
refrigerator.
Another activity: Work on colors using
different colored stars! Help your child
hold a flashlight to shine on the
different colors in the dark.
Sensory:
Feel like a glamorous Popstar! BRUSH
you child's hair. FEEL different kinds of
silky ribbons to tie in her hair.
Add to the mood with a disco ball light.
Physical therapy:
Dance, dance, dance!
Up/down:
*Work on bending at the waist to
touch/grab something from the floor.
*Work on sit to stand.
*Work on arms up and down.
Turn around:
*Hold her under her arms to walk in a
circle.
*Spin her around in your arms.
*Spin an object around.
Overall, a great song for weight
bearing, balance, and trunk
strengthening.
