TRACK 5 - "Dance Everybody" by Scotty and Lulu

What a great song to get anyone
around involved in a great dance
session!

Speech/communication:
Using the commands from the song
(dance, sing, jump) this is a great lead
up to two-touch communicating. In
addition to the images for family
members, add in images for the
actions. Teach her how to touch a
person, then an action to tell that
person exactly what to do.

If you can hook up your CD player to a
switch, it is fun to have your child start
and stop the music. Everyone is
dancing and then when it stops,
everyone has to freeze in position!

Occupational therapy:
Try out some musical instruments with
this one! Help her rattle some bells, a
rain stick, maracas or a tambourine. It
will be more motivating if other people
in the room have instruments as well.

Sensory:
An idea to include your child in the
dancing group: place your child on
blanket in the middle of the group.
Have each family member hold an
edge of the blanket to suspend your
child in the air. You can swing her and
bounce her to the music.

Physical therapy:
Great for weight bearing and weight
shifting. Have your child stand for the
entire dance and move their hips and
lift each leg. Also, work in some arm
movements for balance and stretching.
