TRACK 3 - "Parachute Girl " by Roger Day
Get ready to jump!
Speech/communication:
Make a chair (or chairs!) into airplanes
by adding wings made of posterboard.
Using Boardmaker, PECS, similar icon
images, or photos of familiar faces,
create cards for different family
members. Or record the names of
each family member into a Step Switch.
Have your child activate the switch to
make family members jump out of their
airplane!
Occupational therapy:
Using cut out pieces of felt, or
cardboard, or fabric.... create different
colored parachutes to overlay onto an
image of a girl or photo of your child.
Your child can use her hands or a
switch to tell you which parachute to
use each time you play the song.
Sensory:
Got lots of room and people? Use a
large sheet held at all corners for
everyone to wave up and down in the
air like a parachute. Your child will love
to be underneath feeling the breeze
and all the stimulation!
Physical therapy:
Seat your child in her "airplane" and
practice sit to stand each time the
song says, "She jumps up!"
You can also use an exercise ball to
just bounce her on if she is not ready
for sit to stand.
And, of course, if you can still carry
your child, just jump up with her in your
arms! Give her the opportunity to
balance some in your arms...great for
increasing truck control.
