TRACK 2 - "Happy Song" by Milkshake
LISTEN &
VIEW LYRICS
A great follow up to "I Am I."

Speech/communication:
Use the chorus of this song on a voice
output switch so that your child can
"sing along."

The short sounds in the chorus are
also great sounds that your child can
practice making.

To elaborate on the short fun sounds,
make up some more sounds and
record them onto a step switch, making
them more and more difficult. You child
can hit the switch and have everyone
in the room try and copy the sound.

"Gooby gooby laki maki wa wa lumooo"
for example! It is always encouraging
for your child to know that others mess
up trying to make sounds too!

Occupational therapy:
Make circular stamps by cutting a raw
potato in half, then dip in something
gooey like pudding. Make smiley faces
on a plastic plate.

Work on holding large sidewalk chalk
to draw happy faces.

Sensory:
Work on textures that are pleasing to
the touch. Touch fabrics like fur, silk or
velvet. Tickle with a feather. Roll a
bumpy rubber ball on her tummy.

Try different tastes for "happy" taste
responses. Make small amount of
"slushy" mixture and freeze in straws
for her to chew on: apple, orange,
mint, banana, etc.

Physical therapy:
Gather objects that make your child
happy! Let her reach for which ones
she wants while in different positions
(kneeling, sitting, all-fours, etc.) and
then let her relax and play with the
object in between successful attempts.
