Sea (pronounce like Shay) has atypical Rett Syndrome. Sea is an
eight-year-old girl that approaches everyday life as a champion. It
is quite easy to see that Sea loves her family and vice versa. Sea
has touched the lives of many people in our community of Bath,
Ohio. Sea is in need of many things that are not currently
approved by Medicaid. Sea’s mom has to fight and argue for many
items and sometimes still does not win. “A quality life” should not
be a fight!! There is a large variance of approved care for girls
with Rett. We are additionally trying to get our political
representatives to hear what Deanne and other parents of Rett
girls struggle with and need. Sea’s mom, Deanne is currently
dealing with her own medical issues and is unable to work.
Sea is nonverbal and has developing scoliosis. In addition to this
Sea has a seizure disorder that she is on medicine for but still has
break through seizures. Sea has so much to say and we would like
to give her an opportunity with possibly a scanner that could read
what she is thinking, then give Sea choices and allow her to pick
what it was that she was thinking but could not say.
Please help us make a difference in Sea’s life and her family’s life
also.
