"How do i begin to describe my beautiful
angel Maddie? Well, first off she's my
heart and soul and is loved by so many!
She was the ideal, perfect well behaved
baby ever. Rarely cried, always calm. But
around the age of 2 the few words she
had, she was no longer saying. She
crawled on time, walked, but the loss of
words concerned us. And so it all began!
She was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome on
April 6th 2007.. a few weeks before her
3rd birthday. I still remember opening the
letter from her neurologist, and reading
these words.. "The test result is diagnostic
for RETT syndrome, a disorder causing
autism in girls." At first it didn't register. I
had to reread that many times. It still stings
looking at that letter, but Maddie is Maddie
and no matter what we all love her! It
doesn't define who she is!

She is attending Special Education Pre-school, and twice a week attends Tiger Kids
Pre-school! She loves going to school. She loves her aide Amanda and her awesome
teacher Mr. Jason! She loves watching Super WHY! and Sesame Street! She LOVES
music, her favorite being Kanye West. She is usually a happy little girl with a smile that will
melt your heart! And is a "wickedly good spitter" courtesy of Mr. Jason!! She loves
wrestling around with her brothers, Devin and Aiden. She loves to spend time with
Grammie. And most of all, looks forward to the phone calls and visits with her all time
favorite person, Papa. ( that's grandpa!) My favorite time of day is when she crawls up on
my lap and showers me with kisses and hugs. I love those moments.. i live for those
moments!!"
