I was diagnosed with Rett syndrome April 2009. My mutation
number is t158m. My daddy and mommy (and everyone else)
thought I had autism. I was diagnosed with autism at 13 months
old. Mommy says that when I was a baby I developed normally
and no one had any concerns until my first birthday. Mommy
remembers me crying all the time, loosing the words I had, not
wanting to play with toys or books anymore, and slowly the use
of my hands was getting weaker.
Well, today I can use my hands just not with lots of control. I
can walk and run. The only word I can say all the time is
“DADDY”. I do make lots of sounds and noises and every once
in a while a real word comes out. So, I am starting to use AT
devices and the PECS system. It is going good so far. I can’t
wait for everyone to finally understand me!

Hi my name is Kylene Grace Friedmann - but everyone
calls me KYLIE. I am 4 years old. My birthday is
November 28, 2005. I was born in Marshall, Michigan. I
currently live in Battle Creek, Michigan with my mommy,
daddy, brother and dog. My brother is 3 years old and
his name is Ryan, he takes really good care of me. My
dogs name is Daisy and she is a 9 year old black lab.
I attend a SCI preschool five days a week from 8-2pm. I
also have therapies everyday after school they include;
speech, OT, hippotherapy, swimming and gymnastics.
My favorite things to do are watch the WIGGLES and
CHOO CHOO SOUL, listen to music, swing, play with
daddy and eat! My favorite foods are pizza, McDonald
french fries, beef raviolis and pears.
