This is our little peanut, Karley Mae!
We call her peanut because she is still, so small! Other than being born early, Karley
thrived. By 15months, she had 15-20 words, but by 18months old, she lost all of them.
Her pediatrician said this was normal, she should get them back. After our insisting that
she be evaluated at Children’s in Denver, we got the diagnosis of Autism in May 2007.
We started all of the therapies including preschool. We went back Dec 2008 and
received the diagnosis of Rett Syndrome after the MECP2 test was done. It was
devastating. But Karley has thrived. She uses pecs to communicate her needs at
school, she is still learning to bring that home! But it is true that these little peanuts use
their eyes to communicate!!
She is such a joy, just one smile and look from her, it melts your heart!!
