We pray everyday for a cure
and are hopeful that one day
through the help of Girl Power 2

found!

After starting testing I came across Rett Syndrome on the
internet and knew immediately that this was what Avery
had.  On April 7, 2008, a month and a half shy of her
second birthday we got the dreaded news, Avery tested
positive.
Avery is currently in Early Intervention where she receives
speech, occupational, and physical therapies.  We are
lucky, Avery can still walk.  She has never spoken a word,
even before she started to regress.  She can no longer
feed herself, hold a cup or play with the toys that once
brought her so much joy.  Elmo and the Wiggles are her
favorite past times and many days these are the only
things that keep her happy.

She is also very much
a daddy's girl.  She
loves to sit and cuddle
with him and giggles
when he kisses her.
He calls the spot
under her chin her
"sugar bowl".

Avery was born on May 31, 2006.  She
was the easiest baby ever--rarely
crying, happy to just be.  She seemed
to develop normally but somewhere
around 15 months we realized all was
not normal.  I suspected Autism since
she had alot of the same signs as her
brother(who does have autism).
